Review: Nyx Noir Collection Liquid Eyeliner

Hey there! I've been meaning to do a review lately on my new favorite product, but I've just now gotten around to doing it. I wouldn't say I've been overwhelmingly busy, but I have been working on a few little house projects bit by bit. I'm also working on ideas for revamping this blog, so check back soon for new and different posts, as well as a new look! Anyway, here is what I think about this new product I've been using:

Nyx Noir Collection Liquid Black Liner

I've been looking for a great liquid liner that is easy to apply and stays on all day, and so when I saw this Nyx liner that claims to be a "long-lasting formula that lasts all day", I had to try it. I bought this liner at Ulta for $5.99, and I only ever go to Ulta when they have their $3.50 off of a $10 purchase coupon. So, I did buy a few other things in order to get that discount. What drew me to the product was:

1.) That it claims to last all day
2.) The price is great
3.) I had heard a lot of positive reviews on Nyx products

I did notice that about half of the packaging is just the applicator, while the other half is the product, but I don't use liquid liner every day, so I don't go through a lot of it anyway.

Here is about the thinnest line I could make, on top, and a thicker line by pushing down more, on bottom. The applicator is a brush, so it doesn't make very sharp lines, but it is very easy to apply.

Here I just have a thin line on my upper lid. I have tried wing with this liner and it works quite well and is easy to do. This Nyx Noir Collection liner really does stay on all day without fading, so it does do what it claims. One thing that some people might not like, but that doesn't bother me is the fact that the liner needs a few minutes of drying time before it stays on without smudging. It's not a super quick drying liquid liner, which I was worried about at first, since smudging it really easy to do when you have hooded eyelids, but it hasn't transferred to my top lid yet while drying.

I really love this liner all around! I'm glad that it's just as good as a waterproof liquid liner as far as staying on all day, but without the hassle of trying to remove it with liquid makeup remover. Of course, it's not good if you actually get water on it, but I'm not going to go swimming while wearing it, so it's all good.

I definitely recommend Nyx Noir Collection Black Liquid Liner if you're looking for a cheap, long lasting liner!

OOTN and Dark Hair

Yesterday seemed like a very short day, but with a lot of work packed in to it. Ryan and I spent a little over five hours moving the last of our things from our old apartment to our new house, an after that we cleaned everything. Basically, Ryan cleaned pretty much every other room while I cleaned the bathroom. It took that long to clean it too, because of two years of not really cleaning the bathroom very much. Yeah, ew. We're gross. But anyway, the apartment looks clean now, and it's ready for a new person to live there!

So, after all that work, we decided to get some "We no longer have to deal with this apartment" celebration dinner. We went to Tin Man Brewery again, since we haven't really tried their food.

My sandwich was huge! It was shredded pork, ham, and bacon with pickles and a really tasty BBQ sauce. I've been wanting to try Tin Man's Gouda cheese and white truffle macaroni, so I got that as my side, and it very definitely a step up in flavor from regular mac and cheese.

Top: Thrifted, Skirt: Target, Bag: New Look from Ebay, Shoes: JC Penny's, Necklace: made by me

I have dark hair now! I always seem to have a problem with hair dye not turning out the color it shows on the box. This was supposed to be a medium to dark brown, and since "hair dye doesn't cover up hair dye" I thought it would be a regular medium brown after applying it over honey brown. Nope, almost black! But, I do like myself with dark hair, and I already like this hair color.

Here is what I wore last night, with a fireplace and penguins in the background. Ryan is kind of taking over the house with his penguins. I'm sure there is at least one in every room by now, except maybe the bathrooms. I think I'll have to check for peeping penguins in there though...

Spiked hoop earrings from Forever 21
I did my makeup using the new Great Lash-Lots of Lashes Mascara (good review at Painted Ladies), Nyx Collection Noir liquid liner (I'll do a review on that soon!), and my Khaki Craze eyeshadow that I've talked about before. On my lips is my new Revlon lip stain in "Endless Red", even though it definitely looks a bit pink, and even looks sort of fuchia colored in the tube.

Well, it's breakfast and tea time now. Soon I'll be headed to Kentucky to see my mom for Mothers Day. :)

Free Comic Book Day- May the Fourth

Saturday I got up a bit early (for weekends anyway), put on my Spider Girl costume, and headed to Comic Quest in town for Free Comic Book Day.

I've never been to a FCBD, so I didn't expect there to be a big line of people waiting outside when I got there. But, there were a lot of people who showed up for the event. And Comic Quest was only one of two locations that was hosting FCBD.

The free comics I picked out
The reason I stayed all day at Comic Quest is because I am a new D20 Girl, and we were helping out with the event. D20 Girls are awesome ladies who love nerdy things and dressing up. We exist because we love things like gaming, cosplay, anime, sci-fi, fantasy, and comic books and we want the world to know that there are nerdy girls out there! From the D20 website:

"The D20 Girls Project aims to break down modeling stereotypes; we are not Barbie™ dolls.  We are Anime, Goth, Steampunk, Boudoir, Magic, Zombies, Faeries, Furries, Vampires, and much more.  The catch?  Well, we look good doing it.  We are nerdettes of the highest quality and love it.  We believe that spokesmodels within the industry should be able to talk shop and promote fandom and work, as well as embracing beauty in all shapes and sizes."  Check out my D20 profile if you'd like!

The lovely Mixtress Mandy, who is also a D20 Girl
This creepy-cute Ewok was awesome. Though it did scare a lot of kids, until it started dancing around.

Me and Spiderman
Harley Quinn and It Girl!
Me and Lady Robin
I had a really fun time, and I liked taking pictures with kids in costume who were also excited about free comics and superheros!

all pictures except the first two were taken by a fellow D20 Girl, Rena aka Minimix. :)

Our New House!

One week ago, we closed on our new house and got all the keys and everything. Saturday was the big move, though we still have a few random things over at the apartment that need to be boxed up and moved.

My house key, with the new key topper that my sister bought for me. :3

This is the front of the house! We've got some really pretty flowers that have just bloomed.

I swear this one just bloomed today.
I got this owl wind chime for $5 at the dollar store.

This is what our living room looks like from in the kitchen. We're really liking the minimal look, though I'd like to get a rug to go under the coffee table.

Here is a peek into the craft room. I kept my giant/heavy desk because we figured out how to take it apart to move it. I thought I was going to have to axe it or something. Haha. I'm not going to show you the bedroom, as it's nowhere near looking finished, and I want to buy a new bed set. Also, Ryan has a computer room, but that's a bit messy so far. The kitchen and dining room are still full of boxes, but I'll take pictures of the rest of the house in the future.

The rats are temporarily sharing a much smaller cage, since the big cage is still at the apartment, and I want to build a wood bottom for it so bedding and food doesn't get all over the floor. I've got the wood for the project, but I need some power tools! I'll have to borrow a saw from a friend.

Chii: "I don't like this. Get me out of here."  Arya: *nom nom nom* "I don't care."

I think we have four pine trees and two maple trees in the back yard. Here is part of the yard. It faces a park/soccer fields.

I really love our house so far, and having more space (plus a garage) is awesome! I'm excited to keep decorating and improving the place, and I hope to stay here for a long while. :)
